Well actually the frogspawn has arrived, but it deserves to be 'bigged up' a bit!

FrogspawnThis morning's new arrivals Exceptionally mild weather today coincided with the arrival of the first frogspawn of the year in my pond, together with frantic activity from 30 or 40 or so frogs there. The spawn has been laid in the shallow 'beach' area - in almost exactly the same spot as the first spawn was laid last year.

So far this year I have not had a visit from any of the local herons (that I know of anyway). The first sign I get that any are showing an interest, I will probably give the shallow area of the pond some protection with some netting. I may even do it regardless - I would hate to have another 'massacre' like the one I suspected last year when some 20 or more frogs seemed to vanish overnight.
